If I receive a free upgrade, when does my maintenance plan expire?

Receiving a free major version upgrade does not change or extend the expiration date of your current software maintenance plan. Because free major software releases are a premium benefit provided during your active protection period, your maintenance end date remains exactly the same. You do not receive an additional year of maintenance when claiming a free upgrade release; the expiration date remains based on your original purchase or most recent renewal date.
